Section 1

Introduction.

The purpose of this document is to provide details and guidance on safe working practices for installation of steel tube structure for fabric shade. 

This document is to be used as a base for the safe working of all Keep Kool Ltd. Staff and also other trades working on the site.

All staff are to be fully briefed on its contents and implications before beginning work on site.

Install 2x 4.5M posts and 2 x 5.8m posts

 

Traffic Systems and Restrictions

Site is play ground with access via the car park route for emergency services must be kept clear.

 

Site Accommodation and Welfare

 School facilities are available

 

PPE

 All operatives while on site will observe the following:

  • Hard hats to be worn at all times.
  • Foot protection to be worn at all times.
  • High visibility vests to be worn at all times.
  • Battery or 110V tools to be used.
  • Note site risk and PPE assessment

 

Section 3

METHOD OF WORK

  • Site to be enclosed with tape and signed (standard set)
  • Survey site and position plant
  • Waste skip to be sighted within the fenced area.
  • Mark and cut tarmac 800 x800 Cat Scan for U/G services
  • Position boards to receive spoil
  • Position auger and drill to 1.8 m
  • Remove spoil as produced.
  • Cover hole and fence.
  • Drill remaining holes as above. Position poles using handle attachments and dolly wheels
  • Raise poles using steel bar guide and boom attachment.
  • Receive concrete delivery and fill holes using powered mini skip
  • Check alignment of poles
  • Cover and barrier concrete fill
  • Wash and clear site

Action Taken

 

All power tools, extension leads and transformers must be periodically tested and the results entered in the test register.

Also a label must be fixed to the appliance confirming that it is safe to use and the next test date.

All power tools, extension leads and transformers must be visually inspected for defects before use.
 
All connections to any form of supply must be by the correct plug.

Post warning signs and cordon off area to avoid trip hazards caused by extension cable.

Tools must only be used for the purpose for which they were designed.

No portable appliance shall be used unless there is a current test sticker visible.
