Bespoke Canopies

Fabric, as a form of architecture, can be traced back centuries. Today, with the advances of materials and techniques architectural fabric structures can be designed and manufactured to meet the most ambitious, creative architectural concepts.
The design of even the simplest fabric structure can often be a complex task. By their very nature, fabric structures rely on the interaction of both the visual and structural elements to function as a whole.
Structures formed from the fusion of fabric architecture range from a simplistic awning and canopy through a more complex and technically challenging variation on an umbrella.
Integrated elementsIncreasingly, fabric architectural solutions are becoming an integral functional element within the building envelope itself. Textile as a facade offers the option to incorporate innovative design elements that would not be possible or as robust using traditional construction materials. Fabric architecture allied to mast or arch and frame support structures, affords architects the freedom to design visionary products that stand out from the crowd. Fabric architectural concepts have truly come of age. |

Fabric choiceThe choice of fabric will depend on the characteristics of the structure that is being designed – its function, form and visuality all play and integral roll in its specification. Whilst there are a number of external fabrics, 4 main types cover the spectrum of structures where external 'fabric' is used – each with their own individual characteristics and performance criteria. |
